Damian Hale was born In Ipswich QLD on December.28, 1969. Damian was elected Member for Solomon, (ALP) Northern Territory, in 2007. Damian's parents, Bob and Bev Hale, were teachers who spent their lives teaching in Katherine, Maningrida and Darwin. Damian has 5 children.
Damian moved to Territory with his family in 1974. Damian was educated in Darwin, completing his secondary education at St Johns College. Upon finishing school, Damian commenced an apprenticeship as a Green Keeper / Golf Superintendent. In 1992, he was named NT Apprentice of the Year 1992, Australian Apprentice of the Year 1992 and Top End Citizen of the Year 1992.
Like most Territorians Damian has always had an active interest in sport, representing the Territory in both Australian Rules and Rugby League. Damian played and coached at St Mary's for many years.
Damian was appointed the AFL Coach of the NT Institute of Sport in 2005, combining this role with his position as the Head Coach of NT Thunder. Damian sporting qualification are as follows: Accredited Level 3 Australian Rules Football Coach, Level 2 Rugby League Coach; Senior Coach NT Australian Rules Football Team (vs Nth Adelaide Football Club) 2005 and (vs Western Bulldogs Football Club) 2003, NT Thunder Under 18 Team 2005-07, St Mary's Football Club (3 Premierships) 2002-05, Playing Coach Howlong Football Club (NSW) 1997-2001, Temora Football (NSW) 1995-97, former Coach Nightcliff Dragons Rugby League Team (Darwin).
